Dating Scam and 11-Year Old Child?

This story is not about a Y, but rather a question of WHY? No, not why do they put chili on spaghetti in Cincinnati? That’s not even worth writing about.
The question is why an Ohio couple would dream up such a twisted online dating scam and why some people would be stupid enough to participate in it.
A Toledo couple is accused of using the Megamates voice personals dating service in a scam to extort more than $10,000 from at least seven men. Victims were from Florida, Indiana, Missouri, and Illinois. Get a load of what these “alleged” low lifes did.
According to an FBI affidavit, Kevin Zunk, 43, and Tonya Blaze, 40, convinced the people they met through the dating service to send them sexually explicit photos and text. They gave the guys a telephone number. Once the couple received the sexual materials, they accused the man of sending them to their 11-year old son or daughter. Then the couple would demand money in exchange for not reporting the matter to the police. Sometimes the harassment included the victims receiving calls by a phony FBI Agent, Toledo Police Detective, or sheriff’s deputy threatening to press criminal charges.
One of the guys who got scammed forked over $2,485 to the couple. But they demanded more. That’s when he contacted the FBI.
The couple is now behind bars in federal custody. If found guilty, they face up to two years in prison and a $250,000 fine. I wish it were a $2,000 fine and 250,000 years in prison. That would give each of these two scam artists plenty of time to enjoy “interesting” romantic dates behind bars.
