Online Dating: Putting Rural Singles in Reach
Nov 23, 2010 Dating Websites, Online Dating News
Singles finding other compatible singles for dating can be challenging. There are all kinds of reasons for it, including schedule, resources, preferences, income, and so on.
These types of common challenges are often the case in major metropolitan areas such as crowded New York City, the widespread windy city of Chicago, and even Philadelphia, PA, the City of Brotherly Love and Sisterly Affection. But what can you do if you also have geography as a major obstacle for you in finding the love you want?
For those who reside in a rural area or small town, their dating options have always been rather limited. But online dating has changed all of that. Online dating sites put plenty of potential matches at their fingertips regardless of what remote corner of the world they are in looking for love.
For example, if you were a single man or woman who made your home in Window Rock, Arizona, you’d out there in desert country with more rocks than potential dating partners, and a limited window of opportunity. The similar situation exists from Alaska to Montana, Maine to New Mexico, and many countries around the world. Isn’t it cool that the internet allows for an online dating blog to write about this? Isn’t it cool that the technology behind online dating brings a world full of possibilities to all of the people in rural locations?
Sure, there are more hurdles for all of those singles who live in remote areas, such as managing the long travel distance with a relationship partner or one of the people having to relocate, but still, at least singles everywhere have options regardless of where they call home. And with every passing day, more and more single women and men are jumping online and dropping their online dating profiles into the world of online dating because they see it as their only genuine option for meeting someone. Good for them.

4 Singles Hope to Hit Home Run in Online Dating
Nov 15, 2010 Dating Websites
Minnesota’s Twin Cities is a fun place with lots of great people. I know this because my friend Mike Veeck is one of the owners of the St. Paul Saints, perhaps the most fun team in all of professional baseball. But now as another cold, winter season replaces baseball, 4 Twin Cities singles are trying to hit a home run. Only their chosen field is online dating.
Plume Blue is claimed to be the love child of four young singles who say they have been through the gamut of online dating. Because their collective dating experiences lacked the joy, grace, humor and excitement they believed should be a part of dating, they created their own online dating site and service called Plume Blue.
This one is similar to How About We, the successful event based dating service in New York City we told you about recently here at BlogOnlineDating. How About We has raised a bundle in private investor money.
Meanwhile, with Plume Blue, a young woman named Stacy Becker is the founder and funder. She brings along three friends in key roles. A female as web designer, and a pair of young males as public relations person and web coding guru.
Plume Blue warns that some of its features may seem strange at first to experienced online daters in the Twin Cities area. Here’s why. Plume Blue members don’t get black and blue making their way through algorithm generated online dating profiles and recommended matches.
Instead, members can meet each other through posting and browsing activity based dates such as shows, classes, and sports and entertainment events at local venues. There isn’t the pressure of matching people in lifelong relationships. This is just about helping singles to find fun dates.
Privacy and communication have been protected and limited. Plume Blue members have total control over their profile and their communication.
Singles are even encouraged to enjoy double, triple, and even group dates.
Hoping to make online dating news, Plume Blue offers a two month introductory rate for only $12. After that, being a member will cost only $7 a month.

An Online Dating Site that might “Sound” Good to You
Nov 14, 2010 Dating Websites
Many of us have preferences in seeking a match or a mate, right? For example, some Jews, Muslims, and Mormons want to stay within their religion in seeking a match or a mate. Some wealthy people only want a mate who’s in their same income bracket. Some highly educated people want only to be matched with someone of their intellect.
Then, there’s the matter of looks. Many of us have a certain look we like, right? Some gentlemen prefer blondes, others like redheads. Some women prefer older men. Some cougars like the young cubs. Some whites want only to date African-Americans. Some BBWs only want equally big men.
But that covers looks. What about sounds?
Personally, I’ve always been a sucker for women with Southern accents and British accents. I don’t care what they say to me as long as they talk to me.
Do you have a certain sound that is music to your ears? If you are one of those people who believe “Beauty is in the ear of the Beholder,” then let me share some online dating news with you about a website I just heard about (pardon the pun).
Perhaps you should consider exploring www.iloveyouraccent.com. When you log on to the site you get welcomed by a video with a woman who has a lovely British accent.
The site talks of being open for singles to enjoy socializing with others. If you are an American looking for love, you can use iloveyouraccent.com as a resource to explore people in your community or across the pond in the United Kingdom, or other countries as well. It is positioning itself as more of an international online dating option.
The text on the website kind of reads like the writing of a depressed amateur therapist – a cross between say Dr. Phil and Dr. Ruth. Still, this dating service, iloveyouraccent.com does have some features that sound pretty good.
It says the site can act as your new foreign friend. You are urged to join the forums, talk about your life, love, and your hopes as well as dreams.
Registering and keeping a basic account with an online dating profile is free. You also get access to free unlimited chat, your very own blog, and uploads of video and accents. Naturally, there is an upsell to a premium account.
All and all, ILoveYourAccent.com shows there are plenty of niche markets and nice opportunities for you in the world of online dating. Find the one that works best for you and pursue it.

Online Dating Site for Ugly Finds Success Pretty Quickly
Oct 28, 2010 Dating Websites
Women and men doing online dating must like to read about ugly people. Maybe it’s for relationship searches. Maybe it’s for amusement purposes. Either way, since you’re here I’m assuming you are one of these people. I mean you are an online dating person, not an ugly man or woman.
The post I did recently, Online Dating Home of the Brave and Ugly was quite popular. So many people read it that I promised to follow the story. Here is an interesting update of this unique piece of online dating news.
“Ugly Website” Unveils Its First Engaged Couple!
Pretty luck, huh? After just two months of online matchmaking for people who don’t count mirrors as friends, British-based website, The Ugly Bug Ball has already gotten credit for a couple getting engaged.
You can decide for yourself if the pair of lovebirds in the photo is “aesthetically challenged.” However, I will tell you that upon first glance (and actually my second, too), I thought for sure they were lesbians.
Their Love at First Bite Story
Tom (on the left) is 36. He works as a carpet fitter and has been single since 1998. He describes himself as having “a face that makes children cry.” He found 31-year old Janine on the site in late August soon after it launched.
They say a shared love of junk food and TV dinners was enough for them to “know” after just four dates. ”I always thought I was too ugly to meet Mrs. Right,” says Tom. “But my life changed when I met Janine. She’s beautiful and I love her in every possible way. I still can’t believe this happening.”
Now having just gotten engaged this week, the couple is planning a wedding this winter, and has already started writing their vows to each other.
They have also received a free honeymoon to Borth in Wales, courtesy of The Ugly Bug Ball. It brings to mind the old saying, “There is no such thing as an ugly bride.” I’d say that adage might soon be expecting a challenge. But based on some of the weddings I’ve attended, I’ve already seen enough proof.

Brits Believe There’s BS in U.S. Dating Sites
Sep 25, 2010 Dating Websites
Maybe they’re right. But we keep it real at BlogOnlineDating.com. So, we’ll also point out maybe the Brits are still angry from 200-plus years ago when some overmatched colonists kicked the asses of their official army. In any case, some British online dating professionals are taking what they believe is a much smarter approach than what Americans are doing. You decide.
KISSING means “Keeping It Simple Stupid”
A new online dating service says it has just the person you’re looking for. And they say it’s much easier to find love online than many people think. UK Loving keeps it simple for singles with a simple to navigate website. It has deleted most of what American online dating sites do. There’s no touting of elaborate computer algorithms based on science and psychology. It’s more like animal instincts.
Back to Basics not BS
UK Loving gives its members a back to basics approach in looking for love online. The dating service did so because a survey found most singles don’t believe in or use the many tests available. Instead, it’s driven by first impressions, curiosity, and basic sexual attraction. The fun in searching for a boyfriend, girlfriend or soul mate comes down to noticing your possible perfect match because of how hot they look in their photo or something they say in their profile.
Just like in the United States, online dating is a booming trend throughout the United Kingdom. There is a constant stream of new singles using the internet to find a man or woman to meet, date, or perhaps share a lifelong relationship. Every day as a member of an online dating site brings more hope and possibilities.
Personally, I love to listen to British women talk. So, if any of you Yanks want to do a straightforward search for a British beauty or beau, you can log on to www.ukloving.co.uk.

Online Dating Quiz: Have you ever had a Honeymoon Salad?
Sep 17, 2010 Dating Websites
I just had to sink my teeth into this story. It is simply way too good to pass up. But before we get to the meat of it, let me just say that never in a million years did I think I would actually such an opportunity to write about what I dare now do. Oh the joys of having your very own online dating blog!
Of all the bad lines I use with reckless abandon in my verbal and written arsenal, this one I am about to share is up there with the best. Or, perhaps should I say it is down there with the worst? I use it often at restaurants and dinner gatherings, much to the chagrin of the digestive tracts of those within earshot of me.
The question I ask is this: “Have you ever had a Honeymoon Salad?” (Insert clueless look here). The answer I always get is, “No. What’s that?” I then smile and shout out, “Lettuce alone!” Get it? Let-Us-Alone! Do not disturb. We’re passionate lovers on our honeymoon…
Yeah I know. Let’s move on to the real meat of this online dating news story. Just when you thought you’ve heard everything about online dating and matchmaking, now there is a way for you to find true love by finding your salad soulmate!
Gives New Meaning to the term “Pick Up Bar”
Just Salad is a make your own salad bar in New York City and Hong Kong. It has created an online dining component to match singles based on their salad preferences. tastes and healthy eating lifestyles. Apparently, the locations have somehow transformed into spots where singles connect. So, they decided to dress it up a bit, build a website, and allow customers to have fun when they not in the restaurant. It’s www.saladmatch.com.
You can create a free profile talking more about your tastes in salad than sex, love, and rock n’ roll. Then magically, just like Perfect Match, Zoosk, eHarmony, or any other dating site, the computer algorithms will try to find you matches.
Check back later here at BlogOnlineDating.com because we’ll be telling you about some other food-friendly dating opportunities.
Now if only I could get Chris Rock out of my head. Do you know his standup comedy routine where he talks about what the term “tossing salad” means in a men’s prison? Consider yourself lucky if you don’t!

Entourage meets eTourage in Online Dating
Sep 14, 2010 Dating Websites
Entourage is the popular TV series that has aired on HBO since 2004. If you haven’t seen the creative and entertaining show for yourself, surely you’ve at least heard about it.
The theme for the series Entourage revolves around a young A-List movie star Vincent Chase, and his best buddies from Queens, New York, as they experience the up and down, real and surreal adventures that only Hollywood can actually bring to life. The premise for the show is said to be based on Executive Producer Mark Wahlberg’s real-life journey as an up and coming star and always having his boys around.
ETourage is a new online dating site launched in July 2010 that revolves around setting up group dates. It is making online dating news by going after a niche that targets young people who would rather avoid the trials and tribulations of disappointing one on one meetings and dates.
Stephen Bennett, a single guy in his 20’s from the Washington, DC area simply got so busy in his life with responsibilities from work and school, going to the gym and caring for his dog, that he claims he never had time to meet new people. So, he and partner Benjamin Gottlieb created a business to solve his own problem. “I naturally turn to the Internet to meet new people, but the options available online really aren’t geared toward the younger crowd,” said Bennett.
He points out that 18-29-year olds account for roughly half of the American singles. (You can check out our earlier post to see the results of singles in the latest U.S. Census). However, Bennett believes that young people aren’t using most of the existing online dating websites due to high costs and the LoserVille stigma they carry with them. In addition, most online dating sites promote everlasting love and marriage, but many young people today are really looking first for casual dating or just having a good time.
This online dating system works by creating an online profile, then recruiting your single friends to be in your eTourage. Other users can search the website for girls or guys who catch their interest. If they communicate and connect, they can ask each other out and simultaneously ask the members of their eTourages if they’d like to go on a group date.
To this online dating blog, the eTourage concept certainly sounds like a safer approach for young women. It also seems to have plenty of other advantages such as being more relaxed, feeling less pressure, and simply having fun being with a bunch of your good friends. Who knows? A person could wind up finding the love of life with the selected person or someone else who is one of the friends of another eTourage.

The Online Dating Home of the Brave and UGLY
Aug 24, 2010 Dating Websites
Okay. I know it. I may not be Brad Pitt. I may not be George Clooney. I may not be Robert Redford. I may be goofy. But I know I didn’t fall from the tippy top of the ugly tree and hit every branch on the way down.
So, what happens if you are ugly? Do you know it? Do you know admit it? Is there really anything such as ugly? As I regularly say about dating and marriage, “This is why Baskin-Robbins makes 31 flavors.” Everyone’s taste in beauty (or ugly) is different.
Now, there is a new website targeting men and women whose beauty may not be held too highly by most beholders. It is supposedly the first dating website for the “undateable.” Mainly it has been launched for the fat and ugly. Attractive chubby chasers are not invited.
The TheUglyBug Ball (Tubb) dating website is now live in London. It was just launched by online entrepreneur Howard James. If it is nothing more than a beautiful publicity stunt for promoting his other online ventures, Howard James has already been successful with this website.
Whether it is lard or legit, James describes the service he is offering through Tubb in an equally creative manner. ”It’s a sad fact that up to half of the United Kingdom is made up of ugly people,” said James. “Yet amazingly nobody has ever thought of providing an online dating service for them. Our site allows people who aren’t attractive, to engage with others like them without fear of ridicule for being ugly or excessively overweight.”
An internet dating site for the unattractive could be an attractive idea since it does serve a niche market. According to Howard James, it’s a big, fat niche in the U.K. However, it does generate some interesting questions. Here are five for consideration:
- Who would join an online dating website for only the ugly?
- Don’t even ugly people hope to upgrade with dating or sexual partners?
- If you did join the site, who do go for…the most ugly or the least ugly?
- What if you strike out with everyone on an ugly dating site? Then what?
- If you did find true love on this website, how could you tell anyone the story of how you met?
The possibilities are endless. Good, bad, or ugly, it’s one of the most beautiful aspects of the internet.

How do You Make Your Booty Calls?
Aug 18, 2010 Dating Websites
Well, if you’re like 5 million other people, you do it as a registered member of OnlineBootyCall.com (OBC). The casual dating website is now celebrating and proudly announcing it has reached the major milestone of 5 million active members.
Since the launch of the online dating site back in 2003, Online Booty Call has given interested male and female singles the opportunity to make connections with others who are also looking for a relaxing “friendship with benefits.” It’s not designed for shopping for a “one night stand.” Nor is it designed for those men and women seeking a long-term relationship. Online Booty Call caters to people who are in the market for the casual dating area somewhere in between.
The website was recently revamped to make room for a feature called the “Booty Call Commandments” which says it gives members a better chance of finding the perfect booty call for their specific wants and needs. (No word if those commandments were also handed down through a burning bush or not).
“Booty Call” Trademark
OBC has also officially trademarked perhaps the most popular term or phrase in the world of modern online dating: booty call. It all began with the popular movie starring Jamie Foxx, Tommy Davidson, and Vivica A. Fox. Eventually, it led to another popular term, “Friends with Benefits.” Today, the company claims that the phrase “booty call” has taken on a life of its own. It no longer describes a casual sex encounter but rather a casual relationship.
No matter what you call it, the statistics show that millions of men and women are going online to make their own unique version of a “booty call.”
So how do you make yours?

How About Dating with How About We?
Aug 17, 2010 Dating Websites
Online dating is as competitive for the businesses as it is for the people looking for love. It either takes a whole lot of money or something really interesting to make noise in the crowded competition for matchmaking and online dating services.
So, how about the buzz that startup dating service, How About We has generated? The new company based in New York City was even featured in the New York Times. Kudos to Co-Founders, Aaron Schildkrout and Brian Schechter.
How About We is an online dating service with a business model built on income from subscribers. The central concept features people proposing and accepting specific ideas for going on a date. It boasts of putting the date back in dating.
- Subscribers invent fun dates (romantic, creative, wild, unique)
- Interested subscribers fill in the details and dots
- Subscribers ask each other out on dates
How About We distributes the dates you create to other members. And each day, you’ll also receive other people’s date ideas that attempt to match your interests. You can check each other out, message, and go out on the dates you want. When two people go on the date they want, that’s where the magic can happen.
What is different about it is that it’s not driven by computer algorithms trying to match people through online profiles. How About We is all about live activities that can possibly connect people in the real world. Users pay to subscribe to the service.
Local businesses get involved. For example, one proposed date might take place at a featured restaurant which offers a discount coupon. Now How About We has also added some interesting social media applications. For example, a new matchmaker feature which gives subscribers the opportunity to share their proposed date ideas with their followers on Twitter, as well as their friends or fans on Facebook.
How about that? How About We is a business having great success going forward by going back to basics. A dating service actually based on dating. What an innovative 21st Century approach.

A Review of a Virtual Home for Virgins
Aug 16, 2010 Dating Websites
Don’t get too intrigued here boys and girls. You’ll probably be more entertained by reading some of the previous posts.
You probably don’t qualify to read this article and act on it. But don’t worry about it. Most people today over the age of 18 don’t qualify either. Besides, you probably aren’t even really interested in the news this article has to offer. But that’s okay, too. Most people over the age of 18 wouldn’t really care either.
So, why is this article not for you? Because it deals with a segment of society that has fewer qualified applicants than the U.S. Marines. This article is written for the exclusive group of singles who are virgins.
YouAndMeArePure.com is an online dating site that describes itself as a friendly place for virgins to connect. It is the brainchild of Lety and Jose Colin, a married couple who themselves abstained from having sex until they were married. The intent of the site is to work as a tool for singles who value purity.
While this is an interesting niche concept for an online dating service, the business model seems to have some holes in it. Access to profiles is allegedly only granted to other virgins. However, personal profiles on the website also happen to be free to create. Despite the stern warnings of a policy that the site is for virgins only, how in the world would they know if you are or aren’t?
The founders of YouAndMeArePure.com say virginity is an important common aspect and precious gift between two people that can lead to close friendships or marriage. They say it brings bonding power that cannot be purchased with all the money in the world.
However, visitors to the website can purchase V-Cards which are literally designed for people to be proud card carrying virgins. Also for sale are gift certificates to the site, as well as upgrades in membership.
The website and its content appear as though they may have been created by a virgin web designer. Captions for the photos of couples on the site readily admit the people featured are models. It must tough to find virgins, let alone virgins who will allow their photos to be posted on an internet dating website.

Todayter is Your Lucky Day!
Aug 8, 2010 Dating Websites
“Start spreadin the news…I’m featured today.” It sounds like a remake of Frank Sinatra’s famous song, “New York, New York.” Only in this case, it’s not a new song that’s making news. It’s a totally new online dating web experiment.
Todayter is hoping to make yesterday’s news out of the proven existing internet dating formulas for men and women. Instead of a business model based on millions of online dating users stumbling over each other to connect on any given day, Todayter shines its entire spotlight on only one individual for a period of 24 hours. This makes the chosen person an “Online Dating King or Queen for a Day.”
With this unique approach, the lucky user attracts all of the attention of his or her fellow users on the website. He or she literally gets the “pick of the litter,” having the ability to respond to whichever people send the most compelling or “interesting” messages during their time in the spotlight.
To me, Todayter sounds like the online dating version of Powerball. The lucky user gets to feast on a smorgasbord of sex appeal that sounds busier than the jolly jumbo standup comedian John Pinette at an all you can eat Chinese Buffet. ”
Todayter is the brainchild of experienced internet entrepreneur, Alex Buran. I’m open to ideas for how to convince him to make a certain Online Blogger King for a Day (for promotional purposes only of course!)
The Todayter project was just officially launched in the beginning of August. Initially, it will only feature profiles of users residing in New York City. However, there are plans to expand if and when user demand increases. Meantime, it’s up to you New York, New York!
