Online Dating and BBWs: Blimps aren’t for Wimps
Nov 24, 2010 Online Dating News
Today, thin is still wins. Being thin is still in. While more and more people seem to be carrying around extra pounds, those who don’t carry the advantage in online dating and in life.
Proof of the thin advantage is everywhere. For women, the supermodels with airbrushed photos, perfect makeup, sexy wardrobe and beautiful hair are still the ones who are worshipped in the media, in the minds of most men, and in the mirrors of many women. The deliver messages that being thin is who, what, and how a woman needs to be to succeed. And also those who don’t conform to these beauty basics are basically unattractive, unworthy, and unwanted.
At one point or another, all (BBWs) big, beautiful women as they call themselves have either wanted or felt the need to fit into the thin crowd. They are pressured internally and externally by advertising, the diet and fitness industries, squeezing into things like clothes and airline seats, and dealing with how others view them and how BBWs view themselves.
We all see these images every day. They don’t just affect BBWs. They impact all of us, from preschool girls to professional men. Yes, these images greatly impact men.
If you think about it, it takes a big man to be in love or an online dating relationship with a BBW. This doesn’t mean a large or physically strong man to handle her size. It means it takes a man who is bigger, stronger, and more confident than all of the pressure and negativity that surely comes his way by being romantically involved with a BBW.
A man who is attracted to a BBW or in a sexual relationship with one will usually face both verbal and non-verbal criticism from his friends, family members, neighbors, co-workers and clients, even strangers. They will wonder what is wrong with him, why he is settling for someone clearly unacceptable, what is he thinking being seen with someone like that. He and she will be totally and harshly judged by appearance alone. They constantly face rejection. It is destination: disapproval.
BBWs and their partners have this difficult and courageous choice to carry in a relationship. And the wounds of rejection run even deeper. Many BBWs have experienced being targeted by men who view them as easy marks or receptacles for casual sex encounters. Therefore, they are often flat out suspicious of a genuine man who likes, loves, or is attracted to them for who they are as a whole – physically, emotionally, and spiritually. In one of the ultimate ironies, the man who wants to be in a dating relationship or marriage with a BBW more than likely has to fight really hard to be the women that many in our society today want little to do with.

Online Dating: Sleeping with the Enemy
Nov 23, 2010 Online Dating News
Some men and women claim to like dating bad guys and bad girls. But what about attracting the really bad ones through internet dating? I’m talking about the hardened criminals.
Criminals do their jail time in order to pay their debt to society. Everyone deserves a shot at love. But do you deserve the right to know if someone you are communicating with through online dating sites is actually a convicted felon?
Most Online Dating Sites Do Not Check Members for Possible Criminal History
But what most of the companies behind internet dating sites say is they do take the security of their members very seriously. Still, for reasons such as cost, hassle, incomplete information as well as inaccuracies, they choose not to conduct background checks of members in the felony and sex offender databases. On the other hand, they don’t want to create a false sense of security to members if they don’t have access to the latest and greatest criminal records.
Some argue that because of the money online dating sites generate, they should pay for criminal background checks as a part of the services they provide to members. A slightly different argument is that online dating sites could upsell members and charge extra for the option of background checks.
But really, how many men and women would want to enter an online dating relationship with a known felon? The answer is probably not too many. Once criminals complete their prison sentence, they are entitled to their rights and freedom again, with the exception of registered sex offenders. Therefore, internet dating companies could open themselves up to potential lawsuits by providing criminal history of members.
Use Caution in Offline or Online Dating
Hopefully, you don’t need an online dating news blog to teach you to be smart about protecting yourself and your privacy. It is safe to say that wherever singles today connect, whether it is at a local coffee shop, nightclub, or an online dating site, people should always exercise caution when getting to know strangers.
Sure, your neighbors could be dangerous and you might not know until it’s too late. However, it’s also quite possible the men and women who act like your neighbors online might not be who they present themselves to be.
If a person wants to hide, it’s easier to do behind a computer screen than in real life. You can create false online dating profiles even with photos fairly easily if you wanted to hide your past.
True.com actually does background checks of every one of its members that signs up for the online dating site. It rejects less than three percent of the people for being convicted felons, which is a statistic in line with the national average.
In the United States, only the state of New Jersey has adopted an internet dating safety law. It requires that online dating sites provide users with safety notices and inform them if they don’t conduct background checks on members.

Online Dating: Putting Rural Singles in Reach
Nov 23, 2010 Dating Websites, Online Dating News
Singles finding other compatible singles for dating can be challenging. There are all kinds of reasons for it, including schedule, resources, preferences, income, and so on.
These types of common challenges are often the case in major metropolitan areas such as crowded New York City, the widespread windy city of Chicago, and even Philadelphia, PA, the City of Brotherly Love and Sisterly Affection. But what can you do if you also have geography as a major obstacle for you in finding the love you want?
For those who reside in a rural area or small town, their dating options have always been rather limited. But online dating has changed all of that. Online dating sites put plenty of potential matches at their fingertips regardless of what remote corner of the world they are in looking for love.
For example, if you were a single man or woman who made your home in Window Rock, Arizona, you’d out there in desert country with more rocks than potential dating partners, and a limited window of opportunity. The similar situation exists from Alaska to Montana, Maine to New Mexico, and many countries around the world. Isn’t it cool that the internet allows for an online dating blog to write about this? Isn’t it cool that the technology behind online dating brings a world full of possibilities to all of the people in rural locations?
Sure, there are more hurdles for all of those singles who live in remote areas, such as managing the long travel distance with a relationship partner or one of the people having to relocate, but still, at least singles everywhere have options regardless of where they call home. And with every passing day, more and more single women and men are jumping online and dropping their online dating profiles into the world of online dating because they see it as their only genuine option for meeting someone. Good for them.

Online Dating News: Is 8 Minute Dating Long Enough?
Nov 22, 2010 Online Dating News
Eight minutes. You probably know a marriage or long term romantic relationship can change forever in that time frame. The question is –
Can you really build a foundation for a romantic relationship in eight minutes when there are plenty of distractions and plenty of competition?
Reasons Why Eight is Enough in Speed Dating Time
It is a fun, exciting, and unpredictable night out that beats staying home alone.
You are guaranteed to meet several different possible connections in a short period of time.
If you don’t like someone, you’re only required to visit with them for eight minutes.
It is much less risky than a blind date.
You have multiple opportunities to test “your story” or your “pick up lines.”
You may meet some new friends.
Reasons Why Eight Ain’t Enough for Speed Dating Success
It is not enough time to know whether or not you would enjoy a second meeting with a person.
Your personality type might not be right for it.
There is not enough
There is way too much competition for the most attractive men and women.
The people you meet in eight minute intervals are too similar. There is just not enough to differentiate between the rotating speed dating men and women.
Who would want to leave table of a person you really like in order to move on to the next person for whom you may not feel any interest or attraction?
One little spark can burn acres upon acres of forest. One little spark is all you need in eight minute dating. Many people believe all you need is an instant to know if a spark is there or at least the possibility of one being generated. Then, if there is mutual attraction and both the man and the woman feel a sense of a spark, an eight minute connection will go quickly and likely leave each of them wondering and wanting more time together. If you a believer of this philosophy, then the eight minute dating concept could be a fun and perhaps successful option for you to consider.

Online Dating News: 8 Minute Dating Live Option
Nov 21, 2010 Online Dating News
On your mark! Get set! Date! Speed dating has established its place today. In online dating, you can make decisions about potential partners with the click of a mouse. In speed dating, the process can be just as fast. Either way, it’s potential romance – machine gun style. You meet many people at an event very quickly and hope you at least hit one target in a possible connection.
One type of speed dating is 8 minute dating. This is becoming increasingly popular among all types of single people. 8 minute dating live events are often organized by a local or online dating service, dating coach, or promotion minded online dating websites.
8 Minute Dating: How it Works (or doesn’t work) for Singles
The process traditionally works in cycles of eight. A group of eight men and eight women meet each other for a period of eight minutes. When time is up, each person then rotates on to another person for another eight minute meeting. At the conclusion of every eight minute meeting, participating singles are required to move on to the next date regardless of the quality of the connection with the other person. So, if you know instantly that the person you’ve just met is not at all the one for you, then eight minutes can be a long time. On the other hand, eight minutes will fly by if you are into the person with whom you have just been introduced.
To keep the pressure-cooking aspect on low, first names are only used. Personal information such as last names, telephone numbers, email addresses, and physical addresses are not to be exchanged between eight minute dating singles.
At the end of an eight minute dating event, the participants are supposed to submit a list to the organizer of the people they would like to meet for a second date. If and when the feelings are mutual, contact information is then provided for both interested singles. And there is usually no limit to the number of likes you can select in 8 minute dating. You can select all eight people for second date if you want.

Dating scam nets max in prison
Nov 20, 2010 Online Dating News
Online dating sites work best when people are honest. When a man lies about his marital status or a woman lies with the photos in her online dating profile, the entire system suffers, and people lose time as well as confidence in internet dating. It gets worse.
Scamming people in online dating is far more hurtful. Using children as part of the scheme makes it as low as you can go. That’s what this piece of online dating news is about.
Back in August 2010, our online dating blog first told you about an dating scam from a couple in Ohio with buckeyes for brains. Now the Toledo area ringleader will have plenty of time to think about what awful and awfully stupid things he did.
A U.S. District Court judge gave the maximum sentence of 41 months to Kevin Zunk, the Northwood, Ohio man who used an online dating Web site to swindle money from men. Zunk used a twisted plan to make his victims believe they had sent sexually explicit messages and photos to children.
Under federal sentencing guidelines, the 43-year old Zunk was facing a minimum of 33 months in prison for his conviction in U.S. District Court on two counts of extortion. However, we’re pleased to report that instead, Judge Jack Zouhary looked at Zunk’s lengthy criminal history and considered the likelihood that he would commit more crimes. Therefore, he imposed the maximum sentence of 41 months for the crimes. The judge also tacked on probation for one year after Zunk is released from prison.
Zunk the punk and co-defendant Tonya Blaze were arrested in August 2010 for their scheme which targeted gay men who had established personal accounts with MegaMates, a voice driven phone dating service. Victims from 10 different states were duped into believing they had sent nude photos of themselves and sexually explicit text messages to cell phones belonging to preteen boys and girls. But it was Zunk all along.
According to court records, the couple created an extortion system which demanded money from their victims to replace cell phones, pay lawyers, and cover other expenses to make the charges go away. They threatened to report the incidents to authorities as well as the victim’s employers if they did not wire money. The scam netted thousands. It also netted Kevin Zunk plenty of time in prison to be on the receiving end of his own gay dates behind bars whether he likes them or not.

Online Dating: Fall Forward into Love
Nov 19, 2010 Dating True Stories
Would you like that special someone sitting next to at Thanksgiving dinner? Would you like a relationship partner to enjoy all of the experiences of the Christmas season? You can do it. You are actually already programmed for it.
The fall can move you forward.
Think about it. From the time you started kindergarten, and all through grade school, high school, and college, life always brought new people into your life this time of year. There were new teachers, new students, new neighbors, and new people you met through extracurricular activities. These new social beginnings always kicked in during the fall, when a new school year began.
You’re already programmed, you’re already conditioned to meet new people during the fall season. There is no reason you can’t meet someone right now. After all, they are programmed for it as well.
The fall often brings a new wardrobe or at some new clothes or a mini-makeover. Again, we were conditioned for it from always needing to buy new clothes for the school year, right? At least with something new, most men and women might tend to feel a sense of being more attractive or refreshed, or even a new supply of hope to meet someone for dating, companionship, or the love of a long term relationship.
But the being ready to go for it spirit really comes from knowing the holiday season is rapidly approaching. No one wants to face the feelings of being lonely or depressed. This fear often motivates people to search harder, to date more, to find someone else even if it’s just “Mr. Right Now.” We just want to avoid being alone during the holidays. This is so powerful a concern that many men and men actually feel social anxiety about it. Thus, singles often create a real need for a love attachment of some kind.
So no matter what age you are, where you are geographically, and where you are in your life, if you are old enough to be dating, why not get yourself out there and do it? Just go on out and meet new people. It’s just doing what comes naturally during the fall. It’s following the programming and conditioning that is already inside you.
And be sure to use the power of online dating to jump start or compliment the networking you do in person. Create an online dating profile. Take some new online dating photos of yourself. There are so many online dating sites to choose from. Pick one or pick a few and make your own online dating news, become your own positive online dating statistic or success story. Fall into love and enjoy a happy holiday season!

Online Dating Profiles: Everyone is a Public Figure
Nov 17, 2010 Online Dating Tips
The internet never closes. It’s open for business and browsing 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Very often you don’t even know who your customers and potential customers are. Take this online dating blog, BlogOnlineDating as a case in point. It gets visitors from all over the world every day.
When it comes to online dating profiles, they basically act as your online storefront, shopping you, and the personal package that makes up who you are as a unique individual. So, you need to be honest if you are looking to connect with a potential relationship partner who truly is compatible with who you really are.
But here’s the truth about the danger of telling the truth in online dating…
Any and all personal information you want to keep private should never appear in your online dating profile. They could suddenly become online dating news. You don’t know if what you post is being read by someone across the street from your home, across the hall from your office, or across enemy lines – whatever ones you may know you have or don’t know you have.
Just because this information isn’t always available to everyone in the general public, doesn’t mean it’s private either. Naturally, using your last name, mailing address, email address, and phone number in online dating essentially means you are putting a potential bullseye on yourself. The online dating sites have permission to use your likeness, image, and information if you actually check the terms and conditions of service.
Here are 5 other quick examples for why you want to make sure you know the difference between public and private as it pertains to online dating:
1. Stupid and cheating married guys often get caught posting online dating profiles when someone they know recognizes them.
2. I know a guy who had a pending divorce. His ex-wife who was mad as a hornet’s nest over their breakup somehow got alerted to his online dating profile and used it to make their relationship even more miserable than it already was.
3. I know another strange guy who has more online profiles than he seems to have personalities. He communicates with people all the time in social media and online dating sites. Some of them he personally knows, others he would like to know. The problem is none of these people know it’s him. Can you see how easily trouble can find its way to your keyboard?
4. People with personal preferences or fetishes or issues get “out’d” all of the time. Every day, there are married people who are gay, socialites or powerful figures who are into colorful sexual activities, and those with a drug or alcohol problem who manage to have their secrets revealed in online dating exposure. And it’s always shocking to them when their world falls apart from looking for love.
5. Private online dating information can be bad for business. Competitors and customers can find out things about you that you wouldn’t necessarily want them to know.
Can you see how easily trouble can find its way to your keyboard? Can you see the power of protecting your privacy? In online dating, it’s always good to be honest. However, it’s also just as good to be smart about it.

Online Dating: Getting What You Want Starts With You
Nov 16, 2010 Online Dating News
You heard it as a kid. In fact, you probably heard it many times. Whether you are a male or female it makes no difference. Your parents, teachers, friends and enemies told you about it. And if that’s not enough, the Rolling Stones even sang it to you, “You Can’t Always Get What You Want.”
This just in to the Online Dating News Room…
It’s true. You may not always get what you want. But focusing on getting what you want is always a great starting point for your personal search.
How do you begin? Start by taking some time to be sure you actually know what it is that you do want. This will also help you to know what it is that you don’t want!
Spend some quiet time thinking and reflecting. Look back on your life/ Look at where you are now. And look ahead at where you want to be. Laser focus if you can. Ask yourself the easy and tough questions and answer them as best you can. Here are a few to consider for your own online dating self quiz:
What changes do you want to make or are open to making?
Are you in the market for marriage?
What are your feelings about sex?
Are you ready for a long-term relationship?
Are you open to a long distance relationship?
Are you satisfied with simply finding friends and others to spend some time?
Are you positioning yourself to be a player?
Do you want someone like your last significant other, or someone totally different?
Only you know the most important and relevant questions to ask yourself. And only you know the true, correct answers. Cheating on this kind of test is only cheating yourself, right?
Once you do know the answers to who, what, where, when, and why as they pertain to you, then you have prepared yourself for online dating success. Now you will be able to see and tell the difference between your stuff and someone else’s stuff. You will be able to know if what is important to them is important to you. You will be able to see if they match or if they don’t. Your self-awareness not only helps you, but can help every person you meet through online dating.
You should always think of yourself first in online dating. Follow your hopes and dreams. It’s okay to be led by the likes, looks, and laughs you want in a relationship partner. If you don’t get your needs met from the start, when are you going to do so? This matters in any relationship from casual dating to life long soulmates. You never drive far on an empty tank of gas, do you? And no matter how long the journey lasts, it’s always best when you enjoy the ride!
So, not that it’s really online dating news, here are some words to remember from the immortal Mick Jagger, “You can’t always get what you want. But if you try sometimes, you might find, you get what you need.”

4 Singles Hope to Hit Home Run in Online Dating
Nov 15, 2010 Dating Websites
Minnesota’s Twin Cities is a fun place with lots of great people. I know this because my friend Mike Veeck is one of the owners of the St. Paul Saints, perhaps the most fun team in all of professional baseball. But now as another cold, winter season replaces baseball, 4 Twin Cities singles are trying to hit a home run. Only their chosen field is online dating.
Plume Blue is claimed to be the love child of four young singles who say they have been through the gamut of online dating. Because their collective dating experiences lacked the joy, grace, humor and excitement they believed should be a part of dating, they created their own online dating site and service called Plume Blue.
This one is similar to How About We, the successful event based dating service in New York City we told you about recently here at BlogOnlineDating. How About We has raised a bundle in private investor money.
Meanwhile, with Plume Blue, a young woman named Stacy Becker is the founder and funder. She brings along three friends in key roles. A female as web designer, and a pair of young males as public relations person and web coding guru.
Plume Blue warns that some of its features may seem strange at first to experienced online daters in the Twin Cities area. Here’s why. Plume Blue members don’t get black and blue making their way through algorithm generated online dating profiles and recommended matches.
Instead, members can meet each other through posting and browsing activity based dates such as shows, classes, and sports and entertainment events at local venues. There isn’t the pressure of matching people in lifelong relationships. This is just about helping singles to find fun dates.
Privacy and communication have been protected and limited. Plume Blue members have total control over their profile and their communication.
Singles are even encouraged to enjoy double, triple, and even group dates.
Hoping to make online dating news, Plume Blue offers a two month introductory rate for only $12. After that, being a member will cost only $7 a month.

An Online Dating Site that might “Sound” Good to You
Nov 14, 2010 Dating Websites
Many of us have preferences in seeking a match or a mate, right? For example, some Jews, Muslims, and Mormons want to stay within their religion in seeking a match or a mate. Some wealthy people only want a mate who’s in their same income bracket. Some highly educated people want only to be matched with someone of their intellect.
Then, there’s the matter of looks. Many of us have a certain look we like, right? Some gentlemen prefer blondes, others like redheads. Some women prefer older men. Some cougars like the young cubs. Some whites want only to date African-Americans. Some BBWs only want equally big men.
But that covers looks. What about sounds?
Personally, I’ve always been a sucker for women with Southern accents and British accents. I don’t care what they say to me as long as they talk to me.
Do you have a certain sound that is music to your ears? If you are one of those people who believe “Beauty is in the ear of the Beholder,” then let me share some online dating news with you about a website I just heard about (pardon the pun).
Perhaps you should consider exploring www.iloveyouraccent.com. When you log on to the site you get welcomed by a video with a woman who has a lovely British accent.
The site talks of being open for singles to enjoy socializing with others. If you are an American looking for love, you can use iloveyouraccent.com as a resource to explore people in your community or across the pond in the United Kingdom, or other countries as well. It is positioning itself as more of an international online dating option.
The text on the website kind of reads like the writing of a depressed amateur therapist – a cross between say Dr. Phil and Dr. Ruth. Still, this dating service, iloveyouraccent.com does have some features that sound pretty good.
It says the site can act as your new foreign friend. You are urged to join the forums, talk about your life, love, and your hopes as well as dreams.
Registering and keeping a basic account with an online dating profile is free. You also get access to free unlimited chat, your very own blog, and uploads of video and accents. Naturally, there is an upsell to a premium account.
All and all, ILoveYourAccent.com shows there are plenty of niche markets and nice opportunities for you in the world of online dating. Find the one that works best for you and pursue it.

Online Dating Thief to Get Plenty of Dating Opportunities in Prison
Nov 13, 2010 Online Dating News
I don’t know if he is a baseball fan. Nor do I care. But I do hope Barrie Turner gets his turn as a catcher in prison. It will put him on the receiving end of what he did to the more than 1,000 people he ripped off with his bogus and predatory online dating sites.
The 66-year-old man from British Columbia was just sentenced to 51 months in prison in U.S. District Court in Seattle, Washington. He pled guilty in June 2010. Turner must also pay back more than $300,000 in restitution to the people who thought they were his customers. In sentencing him, U.S. District Judge Ricardo S. Martinez told Turner “You stole the victims’ money. You stole their hope and dignity for the most basic of reasons: money.”
Turner was arrested last March when he tried to enter the United States at Point Roberts, Washington, just south of the Canadian Border where he collected his funds from fraud. The U.S. Postal Inspection Service delivered when it found that Turner was accepting payments from customers, but wasn’t providing them with any legitimate matchmaking services.
He was operating more than 200 Executive Dating websites, including Executive Gay Dating, Executive Catholic Dating, and Executive Seattle Dating. The more than 1,000 men and women paid as much as $1,500 for Turner’s dating services and got nothing for their money.
Prosecutors reported that Turner’s dating service websites were nothing more than a scheme that was fake, fraudulent, and cruel. And he did it over and over in Canada, Great Britain, and the United States.
Customers were sent matches but they were always fake. They included elaborate phony online dating profiles created by Turner and his accomplices. When the customers did find any of their fake matches interesting enough to want to meet, they would then receive identical but disappointing emails informing them that the “match” had decided to date someone else whom they had already met.
One of the female victims wrote in her statement to the court that Turner’s service “raised my hopes and then they dashed them. I felt foolish, embarrassed, and depressed. They preyed on me (and others) when we are the most vulnerable, all for the sake of their own greed.”
U.S. District Court Judge Martinez stated that this case was different than the other more typical types of fraud. “If someone orders a computer on eBay and gets a box of rocks, they are unhappy and mad… but they don’t lose their hope, dignity and self-respect as these people did,” he said.
So, for the next four years or so, online dating is safe from Barrie Turner. Meanwhile, he will rightfully be in prison with love (or at least inmate dating opportunities) looking for him in all the wrong places.

Veteran’s Day Salute: Top 10 Reasons for Military Dating
Nov 11, 2010 Online Dating Tips
I’m not cut out for the military. Never was. For me, it’s tough enough following the rules of an online dating service let alone a military service!
Being the demerit and detention leader throughout my school years had people thinking the military could straighten me out. Being the demerit and detention leader throughout my school years had me thinking that was a bad idea. It’s one of the reasons why I can appreciate the calling and those who answer it.
Later in my TV News career, I’ve met and dealt with various military personnel and their families. It is for the most part a most impressive group of people. So what is an online dating blog to do on Veterans Day 2010?
This Online Dating News Guy is armed with his 10 Gun Salute. (C’mon, it’s just online dating, the average American with a short attention span wouldn’t read through a 21 Gun Salute!)
My Top 10 Great Reasons for Military Dating
10. Trust. If you get into a relationship with someone in the military, they believe in partners covering each other’s back. They live by it.
9. Routine. Hot romances often burn out when the novelty wears off or the Viagra supply runs out. Military personnel know how to make a routine work and how to work well together within a routine.
8. Orders and Orderly. If you’re a control freak, military dating might work out well. The person you’re dating is trained to take orders! If you are a neat freak, there’s hope here, too. The person you’re dating is trained to be orderly and to maintain clean living quarters at all times.
7. Dealing with Adversity. Had a great talk with Alex Garwood, a best friend and Brother-in-Law to famous fallen military hero from Arizona, Pat Tillman. We agree that “Adversity Reveals Character” more so than builds it. All relationships have adversity. Members of the Armed Forces have this one covered on both ends.
6. Can’t Cook? No problem. If someone survived for years on the mess from the Mess Hall, what you serve up in the kitchen shouldn’t be a deal breaker or divorce maker. To be sure though, have a microwave.
5. R & R. Members of the U.S. Military are trained to fight and kill. Note to Self: Need to re-think this one.
4. R & R. Short hair or not, those in the Armed Forces know how to let their hair down and have fun when the time comes. A key to success in any relationship.
3. Boot Camp Background. Based on the shoes they’re used to wearing in the military, chances are your military lover won’t have shoe fetish to compete with yours.
2. Hot Bodies. While mainstream America is getting fatter by the day, those serving in the military are in good physical shape.
1. And my number one reason for Military Dating — Heroes Give Good Hugs!
Sincere thanks to all (military singles or married) who bravely served in the U.S. Military. And sincere thanks to those heroes by choice who are currently serving as active members of our Armed Forces. Whether it’s the United States Army, United States Navy, United States Air Force, or United States Marine Corps, we civilians know you do more to make a difference than we know.
I will always remember the sign at Fort Bliss in Texas, “It’s a Great Day to be a Soldier at Fort Bliss.” On this Veteran’s Day, I’m hanging my own little online sign here saying, “It’s a Great Day to Have You Protect Us in the U.S. I hope Your Day Comes Soon to Be Home Enjoying the Bliss, the Love, and the Life You Want.”

Veteran’s Day in U.S. is Singles’ Day in China
Nov 9, 2010 Online Dating News
In the United States on November 11, we remember every single veteran who served our country. Meanwhile, in China that day, they simply focus on every single man and woman.
They call it Guang Gun Jie. It means Singles’ Day or One’s Day. It’s a pop culture holiday that began in the 1990’s at multiple universities in Nanjing, the capital city of Jiangsu.
College students created the celebration date based on the four lonely ones that make up the 11th day of the 11th month. The special day graduated with the university tradition and grew way beyond it. Now Singles’ is recognized by all kinds of young men and women across Chinese society.
Much of the festivities revolve around good food and good friends. Certain foods mark the occasion, but really the main way to celebrate is for singles to enjoy dinner with their other single friends. The tradition makes it important for each person to pay for his or her own meal to show their independence.
Some singles throw blind date parties to try to find a husband or a wife. Other singles take a husband or a wife by getting married on this day.
There is also a major online dating component to this day. Singles shop in what is like an internet supermarket looking for a spouse or their one true love. They pay what equates to $15 to post photos and vital statistics of themselves. What I like is they even are required to show official documents to prove what they post is their true online dating news.
Whether it’s the official Singles’ Day or any other day, the pressure to find a spouse is really on the guys because they greatly outnumber the girls. As you’ve surely heard by now, Chinese society favors male babies. According to government research, by the year 2020, the numbers dictate that more than 20 million Chinese men will be forced to remain bachelors.

Is Facebook More Real than Online Dating Profiles?
Nov 8, 2010 Online Dating News
Let’s face it. Online dating has its challenges, right? The process would be a whole lot easier if there was a level playing field for all love and partnership seekers.
Wouldn’t it be great if every man and woman told the whole truth and nothing but the truth in their online dating profiles? Imagine knowing what a person’s real hopes and dreams were, being able to read an honest and accurate self-description and analysis, and seeing someone in photos as they are in real time, not online dating photos of avatars, family pets, sunsets, or various images altered in various ways through the wonders of photoshop.
Maybe “Friendship First” is the way to Truth and Success in Online Dating.
By “friendship” I really mean “Friending.” One of the easier ways to get to know someone or get a better sense of who they are is to “friend them” on Facebook. And according to a recent research study that’s not such a bad idea with online dating.
The University of Texas in Austin, a beautiful place in more ways than one, conducted a study in which independent observers used social networking profiles to assess the personalities of roughly 250 men and women. They found facebook profiles accurately reflected the personality traits of the people who posted them. The observers were able to successfully judge the people they were studying for personality topics such as openness and being extroverted.
The difference may come down to the powers friends have over strangers. Both men and women may try to project their perfection and ideal personality traits to strangers in online dating profiles. However, in online communities such as Facebook, their friends will call them on BS if they see it, smell it, or step in it.
So here’s a piece of online dating news you can use. Consider using Facebook to see potential matches and partners as they really are. Doing so might save you both some wasted time, money, and disappointment.
Let’s face it. Friends don’t let friends BS!

How to Gain 1 Hour in Online Dating
Nov 7, 2010 Online Dating Tips
In Arizona, we don’t change our clocks. The rest of you have no excuse. What if you could both Spring Forward in Online Dating while you Fall Back in Bed? Well you can. It’s easier than you think. And today is the perfect day to do it.
If you want to get different results in your online dating efforts, try actually doing something different. When you change your clocks twice a year, you create a real feeling of change. So, this presents you with a great opportunity.
Here’s all you do…take the one hour you “gained” overnight, and use it today to gain momentum in your goals for online dating.
Only you know how your personal approach and why you do things the way you do. But if you want to create positive change in your strategies and aren’t sure what to do, here are some ideas for online dating tips:
- Review your online dating profile. Do a spellcheck, look for things you said that feel outdated, add more of yourself into what you show others, be more specific about what you are looking for so that others can get a better look at you as a potential match.
- Take new photos of yourself. You can keep your favorites posted but adding fresh photos is a good idea that helps potential matches get a sense of who the real you they would be meeting.
- Take a chance on someone new. Spend a few minutes looking for new matches or taking a different look at people you’ve been considering establishing communication with but haven’t done so for reasons only you know.
If you want to find the lifelong love, companionship, or just the good times you’re looking for through online dating, don’t fall back on the things you’ve already done that haven’t gotten the results you want. Spring forward, put one hour into making online dating news by promoting yourself. Even if no one else buys in to you romantically right away, you’ll benefit from simply showing love to yourself.

TV Newsman Turned Blogger offers Free Online Dating Profile Reviews for U.S. Heroes on Veteran’s Day 2010
Nov 5, 2010 NewsRoom
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: (November 5, 2010)
www.blogonlinedating.com offers online dating news, reviews, interviews, tips, and fun for singles. The new online dating blog is run by an Emmy Award-winning TV journalist and single Daddy, who is a specialist at internet content development through writing and video.
Chandler, AZ, November 5, 2010 – As a Network TV News Producer, Thomas Baldrick has had many dealings with the various branches of the U.S. Armed Forces. He landed the first TV interview with “The Magnificent 7,” after the Iraq POWs were released. He extensively followed the Abu Ghraib prison scandal, and covered numerous other stories involving the U.S. Army, U.S. Navy, U.S. Air Force, and U.S. Marine Corps.
The newsman turned Internet Content Development Specialist will now put to use his creative and writing skills to help single veterans on the upcoming recognition of Veterans Day, November 11, 2010. Through his new online dating blog news site, blogonlinedating.com, Baldrick is offering a free online dating profile review and consultation to the first 10 single past or present members of the U.S. Armed Forces. Those interested need only send an email request to: blogonlinedating@gmail.com.
“In starting my blog, I became aware of the sad fact that certain lowlifes run online dating scams pretending to tie it to the U.S. Military” stated Baldrick. “I decided that for this Veteran’s Day I would do something positive to help the dedicated men and women who bravely serve or have served in our military. Since my online dating blog already offers 10 free tips for creating the perfect online dating profile, I decided to personally consult with 10 single veterans of the U.S. Armed Forces to improve theirs.”
Baldrick says he will not require official confirmation from veterans who request his help through this offer. “And if there are any American singles who would lie about being a veteran on such a sacred day across our nation, then they will be in need of much more help than I can give them through this consultation.”
The online dating industry remains in a rapid rate of growth. Most research shows the industry currently boasts annual revenues of more than $ 4 billion dollars. The latest U.S. Census Bureau figures report there are some 96 million American men and women over 18 years of age who are singles. That equates to some 43% of the entire U.S. population.

Phone App – Singles Around Me New Winger for Real-time Dating
Nov 4, 2010 Online Dating News
Here is a dead giveaway. Can you tell I am a single Daddy in dire need of a social life? Here I am telling you about SinglesAroundMe (SAM) and all I can think of is the line from the Dr. Seuss classic, “Green Eggs and Ham.” “I do not like green eggs and ham. I do not like them Sam I am!”
Now on to the real online dating news. “SAM” is the new kid on the block as far as mobile GPS dating apps for phones are concerned. Thus, I am confused how it calls itself “the global market leader in location aware, mobile GPS dating applications.” Anyway, the patent pending SinglesAroundMe (SAM) app offers a new way to find singles whether you are on the hunt in your own backyard or other cities around the world. Be in a spot, fire up this app, and use your cell phone along with Google Maps to try to connect with other singles nearby in real time. Cool.
Searching for singles with “SAM” allows you to control how mobile you are willing to be. You can select the distance or range to look for results to match the type of profile you’re are seeking. “SAM” shows you a user’s profile, photos, and allows you to send and receive various kinds of winks, flirts and messages. For the single men or women you come across, you can also view their GPS location, add the hotties to your hot list, add the not so hotties or psychos to your block list. You can turn your GPS location on or off. You can turn the SAM app on and off. You can flirt anonymously. However you want to do it, you can maintain total control of your privacy.
Your Virtual Winger for Up to the Minute Online Dating Prospecting
The “Destination Search” option is like sending a winger out on a virtual recon mission for you. No more going to a bar with hope only to discover the pickins are pretty slim or it’s an unscheduled “Get in Ugly Early Night.” Destination Search allows you to scope or scout for matching singles at a designated location of your choice, and do it in real time. This feature means you can check to see if there are any worthwhile singles at a chosen spot before you decide to go there. For example, a night club, a restaurant/bar, a concert, resort, or an entire city. Finding and meeting singles has never been easier than with the help of technology and phone apps like SinglesAroundMe.
You can download “SAM” for your iPhone, Blackberry, and Android. Singles Around Me can be your virtual winger in a number of countries including the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, Germany, and France. I don’t how well SAM will do for in Paris since English speaking Yanks seem to mainly be valued for spending money there.

Wanna Join the 2 Million Online Dating Skouts?
Nov 2, 2010 Online Dating News
A phone that gets you hooked up with nearby hot singles you want to meet? That’s what I call a smart phone!
Skout.com, the cool, location-based dating and flirting app just skipped past the milestone of 2 million downloads. Meantime, millions of messages are sent by singles using the app every single month.
Skout made online dating news by becoming the first dating app for iPhone from Apple and Android. It introduces like-minded singles to one another based on geographic proximity using the iPhone’s GPS technology. Beta versions of the revolutionary app first hit the scene in 2007. They proved pretty much instantly that both males and females wanted a tool like this that gave them a mobile and easy way to flirt and meet other singles. Skout officially launched in 2009.
Skout allows singles to connect in real time. And users put real time into doing it. Research shows the average male and female Skouters spend about 40 minutes a day Skouting. Who said you’re ever too old to be a Boy Skout or a Girl Skout?
Skout was the brainchild of a 29-year old entrepreneur named Christian Wiklund. The founder is quite proud of the popularity of his solution for singles. “The exponential growth of Skout demonstrates that people in today’s fast paced world are tired of the same old online dating platform which requires weeks of back and forth before an actual meeting takes place,” says Wiklund. “Mobile users are looking for the same instant gratification in their dating life as they’re able to find when looking up what time a movie is playing.”
You have nothing to lose but your loneliness by trying Skout. Downloading this app is free. However, there are naturally upsells for using members. For example, you can pay for attention getting extras such as virtual gifts and wink bombs. You can even attempt to go viral in spreading your love seeds and messages. The Skout technology enables you to reach as many as 500 people at once. How’s that for increasing your odds for getting a “Yes”?
